Boards in blue cloth, official binding(The Strand art and London street scene on cover) of this influential periodical. This volume containing a major piece of fiction about anarchists, translated from the French of Eugene Moret. Law enforcement in other articles, handcuffs appear, crime in the back streets of London town. Foxing and minor damp damage w/ wrinkled pages. But interesting and probably better than most of this over a century old British magazine for half a year(1894). Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Corners are bumped and cloth is frayed at the head and foot of the spine. Small closed tear of the cloth along the front hinge. Stamping is handsome. Beveled board edges. Gilt page edges. Binding is square and tight. Title page is dated 1909. Volume 37 with six issues of The Strand Magazine, an illustrated periodical, from January 1909 to June 1909. No copyright page. 768 pages, free from marks or tears. Many illustrations. Arthur Conan Doyle's story "Bendy's Sermon" is featured as well as E. Nesbit's "Hardings' Luck. A Story for Children". A good and readable copy.

Complete with attractive colour magazine insert of Old Mother Owl Advertising 'OMO' Bleach and Le Zoute- Knocke, Belgique. Also includes a story 'The Magic City' by E. Nesbit. Ilustrated with a variety of b/w photographic images and line draiwngs throughout.The paper wraps are little stained and there is some shelf wear with light creasing and turning mainly to the corners, also affecting the page corners of the textblock which are creased at the tips and a little rounded. Chipping to the head and tail of the spine and a reading crease to the spine strip. There is also a triangular area of loss to the front card cover at the tail adjacent to the spine for 2 cm. A little scattered finger soiling to a few page margins - otherwise clean and tight. A good copy.
