Brown end sheets. A few light scattered brown spots to contents. Folding map has about a 2" closed tear on the left edge (no loss of content). Light edge and shelf wear to cloth covers and extremities. "W. H. Hoyt" written in pencil on the front paste down. Nevins I p. 137 - "Better known as a prolific postwar novelist, Nichols first gained fame with this dramatic but opinionated memoir.".

Includes the original sales flyer advertising the book for $1.75, freely laid in the book. The book is square, tight, and very clean, no previous owner's names or marks other than a minor damp stain along the bottom of the last few pages and a 1/2" tear in the map where it is connected to the book. Otherwise the map is in very clean condition. An excellent copy of a scarce book.
