Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. EX-LIBRARY. Volume one only. 8.625" X 5.375" in marbled boards with tan leather spine and corners. Rubbed, scuffed, and soiled; heavy wear to lower corners and edges; both hinges cracked but still holding on: just FAIR. 749pp + an index of names.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. All the engravings present: that opposite the frontispiece has the two central figures 'enhanced' with pink watercolour. A poem has been penned on the rear endpiece and inside back cover. The quarter leather back cover is hanging by a thread; also very rubbed and worn. The front cover has been replaced with a thick piece of grey cardboard, cut to size, and attached with light brown tape on both sides as hinges. The leather label with gilt title is still attached to the very worn original leather spine. The binding within is stout; the pages clean. A small amount of foxing to the engravings.

This gives biographies of everyone from Adam & Eve (created in 4004 BC !!!) to 1598. Volume 1 has loss of paper spine two inches at bottom and an inch at head of spine with some damp staining to the front board (but not internally).
