Decorative Boards. Condition: Very Good. Sandy, H.C. (illustrator). First Edition. Small format retelling of this Gulliver tale with eight colour plates by H.C. Sandy. Undated but probably early 20th century. Archive copy with a stamp to that effect on the half-title page. There is also a little label residue to the bottom left corner of the front panel. Otherwise only light edge rubbing and surface wear to the decorative boards which have bright colouring. Browning with a few spots to the top edges of the pages. Browning to the half-title page and the final page of text but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.

Hard back binding in publisher's original colour illustrated paper front covered board, blue cloth spine, Blackie's Children's Annual advertisement to the lower panel. Quarto 10½'' x 8''. 6 single full-page colour and 1 double-page colour illustrations, full and part page monochrome illustrations throughout. Name inside the front cover dated 1914, rubs to the corners, light soiling to the end papers, scarce early Hassall which is normally found bound with Gulliver's Travels and published much later in 1930. We currently hold in stock 16 other Robinson Crusoe titles, and 18 other John Hassall illustrated books. Member of the P.B.F.A. DEFOE, Daniel (c. 1660-1731).
