Paperback. 12mo. Stiff wrappers. (Ca. 50pp). Numerous line drawings (1 color). Very good. Handsome, tight copy of this unusual little literary magazine, a collaboration between Japanese artist Sawa and American poet Smith. Sawa inscribes the half-title page to noted American social protest poet and fine press publisher JOHN BEECHER (1904-80): "To mr / John Beecher, / Yours / Yu Sawa." Limited to 500 numbered copies (this #55). Errata slip tipped in. Though an American imprint, it was printed in Kyoto, Japan, and at the rear also bears the imprint of Onion Press in Tokyo. Both inside front and inside rear pastedowns and attached flyleaves consist of a highly decorative handmade rice paper with actual leaves incorporated into them. A choice copy of this unusual piece.
