Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. A smart two-volume collection of the letters of the English scholar Sir Walter Alexander Raleigh, edited by Lady Raleigh. The second edition of Volume I, published in the same year as the first edition, and the first edition of Volume II, of this two-volume work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to the front free end paper of Volume II, dated 1935. Sir Walter Alexander Raleigh (1861-1922) was an English scholar, poet, and author, probaly best known for the poem 'Wishes of an Elderly Man, Wished at a Garden Party, June 1914'. This is a two-volume collection of his letters from 1879 to 1922, which piece together interesting insights into his life and work. This collection was edited by Lady Raleigh, with a preface by David Nichol Smith. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart and bright, with just a little bumping to the upper extremity of the front board of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages of Volume I, and offsetting to the end papers of Volume II. Very Good Indeed. book.
