First Edition
Spratling, William (illustrator). First edition. From an edition of 400 copies, this is one of 250 numbered copies. With illustrations of Sherwood Anderson and other famous Creoles, by William Spratling. Bound in green boards. This copy bears the white label, one of three variants, to the front cover. Although the spine is sunned and the hinges just starting at the head and foot, it is intact and original, not repaired or lacking as is often the case with this book. Thin line of dampstaining to front cover, else a well-preserved, internally fine copy of this notoriously fragile book, scarce thus. In Mylar wrapper. (Petersen A3).

First Edition Signed
A Gallery of Contemporary New Orleans. Illustrated by William Spratling. 8vo, publisher's bright green boards with buff-colored printed paper label; in a custom slipcase. First edition; No. 129 of 250 copies. This is one of 200 copies constituting the first issue after 50 copies signed by Spratling (which 50 copies have some of the plates lightly tinted). This copy does not have and has never had the "SECOND ISSUE" label on the colophon page. One tiny nick and a few tiny rubbed areas to the boards; but a very sharp copy.
