Nigella Lawson 'to see these recipes handed down like this with such spirited generosity, is real food for the soul.' Sean Moran Praise for the Feast Goes On: 'Collecting and saving family recipes is a vital undertaking, almost (but not quite) as important as eating. the Monday Morning Cooking Club is a remarkable excursion into the realm of comfort food. You just want to eat everything.' Yotam Ottolenghi. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 5th or later Edition. SALADO COUNTRY COOKING (Texas), recipes compiled by Members of The Monday Club of the Salado United Methodist Church, softcover with sturdy spiral binding, stated 7th edition, 1980. ITEM CONDITION: near fine. The text block is in near fine condition with no tears, dog-ears, or marks. There is no bookplate or name of a prior owner. Not a library book or remainder. The wraps are in near fine condition. 8 ½ x 5 ½, 220 pages, 9 ounces XX [From the FOREWORD] This cookbook is the seventh edition and 1980 marks the 13th anniversary of the Monday Club, the ladies of the Salado Methodist Church. Through organized effort, we have witnessed many improvements in the church, in the community, and enjoy a closer fellowship with one another and with our neighbors. The ladies have unselfishly applied their energy and used their talents to make our projects successful. We desire to continue the activities of the Monday Club, to promote the welfare of the Methodist Church and the Salado community, and to develop Christian fellowship among the women of the area. This book attempts to record some of the recipes that families of this community have enjoyed for generations at home, at church suppers and fifth Sunday dinner on the grounds. Everyone wanted Aunt Effie's chicken pie recipe, Sadie Lou's lemon chess pie, Agnes' fudge, Prudie's cherry dessert, Edna's relish, and many more prized recipes which will be found throughout this book. This edition includes not only the favorites of Salado's best cooks of the past, but also the special recipes of Salado's fifth-generation young homemakers, and recipes of some of the newcomers who have settled in our village. Cookbook sales have enabled the Monday Club to paint the church, purchase carpeting for the sanctuary and install drapes in the balcony. Our present project is the making of stitchery wall hangings that depict stories from the Bible. Some of the illustrations in the book depict patterns from quilts the Monday Club has made. We hope you enjoy our cookbook, cherish the friends who have shared their best with us, and pass the recipes on to your heirs for use in the future.
