Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Oversized hardcover, with dust jacket. Bound in brown leatherette over boards with gold lettering to the front cover and spine. Black and white pictorial dust jacket with yellow and white lettering. Dated 1976 on copyright and title page. 177 pages. Good condition. Binding is strong and square. No bumps or rubbing to the covers. Pages faintly toned, with some foxing to the half-title page and edges. Black and white pictorial endpapers. Dust jacket is toned. The back of the dust jacket has folded down about .5" from the head, all the way across. There are two closed tears on the edges of this fold. Some mild shelf rubbing and foxing. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term biological diversity to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
