Book
Hardcover. Condition: Poor. New Designs by Marcel Tuquet. Aitken Dott & Son, 26 South Castle Street, Edinburgh. Sole Agents for Great Britain and Ireland. These appear to be lace curtain designs. Undated, but c. 1900. A large folio - printed paper over thick boards with linen spine and corners, and remains of cloth ties. Covers are soiled and worn and some splitting to linen, but still bound. Tears to covers around the ties area. The word Burn is handwritten on the rear cover - but luckily this instruction was never followed! The plates are heavily worn - edges are ragged with tears and losses. An incomplet set are there are some gaps in the page numbering. Plates appear to be in 2 series - B and C; B1 to B3: Present. B4: Missing. B5: half missing. B6: Present. B7: Missing. B8 to B9: Present. B10: Missing. B11-B13: Present. B14: Missing. B15: Present. B16: Missing, and B17: Present. In total, 12 sheets from B Series. C1 to C2: Present. C3: Missing. C4 to C11: Present. C12: Missing. C13 to C18: Present. In total, 16 sheets from C Series. 28 Plates in total in the folio. Poor condition overall - a far from perfect set - not known whether there was a title page originally, but a very scarce set of interesting designs from the era. Folio + 28pp (on 28 sheets, printed on one side). Weight approximately 1190g unpacked. Dimensions: Approximately 462mm high x 320mm wide x 15mm deep. More photos on request. Extra postage may be payable.
