This SCARCE 496 pp. book gives practical instructions for the building of homes, interior decoration, wood carving, scroll sawing, house painting, window hangings, etc., etc., etc. This is a very thorough treatise years before such home improvement books became a genre. It is beautifully embellished with numerous steel engravings throughout. The book is 3/4 Leather, and while showing some light edgewear, is in remarkable condition for being 136 years old. The leather is NOT deteriorating, and the inner gutters are NOT separating, as is so normal for books of this age. It has marbled endpapers, marbled page edges (as seen when the book is closed) and gilt lettering and design on the front board and spine. Very faded inscription on the first blank flyleaf, else unmarked. Photos upon request.
