Corners bumped with cardboard exposed there and a few spots along edges of boards, faded along margins and spine, approx 1/4 inch deep fraying at head and foot, two approx 2 inch tears upper joint, two approx 1 inch tears lower, a few lesser ones along center, some soil on cloth. Internally, prev owner's (Benjamin C Gibbs) contemporary pencil signature and inscription, modern signature in ink, paper foxed throughout, 1 or 2 dogears, but o/w tight, clean, unmarked and probably never really read. Prior owner name penned to front endpage. His sporadic ballpoint underlining scattered here and there through the text. Uncommon. Solid reading copy. Good only.
