Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No. Book is square and binding is tight. Contents are clean throughout text with some light finger soiling to a few pages and the outer edges of the pages. Cover boards are in good shape with minimal shelf wear along the edges and spine but there is color fading to the spine and a strip along the top edge. Corners are bumped and frayed. Although a library item, it was only circulated once. Top edges of pages are dusty. Former library book with usual library stamps, labels and markings. Bound in light blue cloth with dark blue lettering and illustration stamped on front board, dark blue lettering on spine. In the color-illustrated dust jacket that shows on very light edge-wear; price of $4.00 intact on front flap. Inscribed by the author on the half-title page, with inscription extending to the front free endpaper. In addition, the recipients noted the circumstances of the author's inscription. In her inscription, Winchell cites the old Jesse Lee Home near the Bering Sea, and invokes John Greenleaf Whittier. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
