Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. This work is the biography of Father Junipero Serra, the lame Franciscan monk who forged the early links in the California mission chain. At the age of fifty-five, almost crippled, he set out again with an expedition that traveled almost a thousand miles up the California peninsula to settle San Diego and Monterey. A bibliography and an index are included. This copy is SIGNED BY KATHERINE AINSWORTH, inscribed on the half-title page. The jacket shows some use, otherwise this copy is clean and solid.
