Tokyo: Japana Esperanto-Instituto 1954. An uncommon translation to Esperanto of the Japanese short story Kappa by Ry?nosuke Akutagawa from 1927 was published in Tokyo in 1954. - This is a Esperanto translation of the Japanese novel Kappa, by a Japanese author Ry?nosuke Akutagawa (1892-1927), also known as the "Father of the Japanese short story". The story is a satire, narrated by a psychiatric patient who tells about his experiences in a country of Kappa. The author himself troubled by a psychological illness, committed suicide shortly after finshing the novel. The book includes three other short stories. Since Esperanto was based on European languages, the first translations from Japanese were difficult. In 1923 Yoshimi Ishiguro wrote a book explaining the transcription from Japanese to European, titled Shot? esuperanto ky?kasho (Beginning Esperanto Textbook). References: OCLC 43726223.
