Hardcover. Volume I ONLY. Original red and stamped gilt floral (tulips) cloth top edge gilt, 5 1/2 x 8 inches, 273 pp, illustrated with plates. Hardcover, very good in very good DUSTJACKET. The unusual dustjacket is in red cloth over paper, stamped gilt lettering on spine portion; a bit scuffed and soiled, with spine portion moderately tanned. Book itself has corners of front board a bit upturned, front hinge cracked, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked and apparently never read. Travel; history; Netherlands.

Two octavo volumes. 273 pp.; 275 pp. 44 black and white photographs and photogravures with lettered tissue guards, complete; color fold-out map to rear of volume II. Flexible cloth dust wrappers with gilt lettering to spines. Blue-green cloth with elaborate floral decoration to front and spine of each volume; top edges gilt; red ribbons. Housed in publisher's slipcase with gilt lettering to top. Dust wrappers show light scuffing and spotting with some minor fraying. Boards show light shelfwear. Bindings are sound and pages unmarked. Slipcase split along top edge with fraying and some general scuffing. Remains, barely, structurally sound. Brown paper-like substance (cardboard?) has adhered to nearly all of exterior rear portion of slipcase. An extensive travelogue by the Italian fiction author, and includes chapters on Rotterdam, Haarlem, and Friesland, among others.
