Its sister treaty, the Treaty of Alliance (as well as a separate and secret clause related to the future inclusion of Spain into the alliance) were signed immediately thereafter. The Treaty of Amity and Commerce recognized the de facto independence of the United States and established a strictly commercial treaty between the two nations as an alternative to, and in direct defiance of, the British Acts of Trade and Navigation; " (from Wikipedia).

Book
Soft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. "George Rapp's mysticism is often reflected in his writing which is best described as a stream-of-consciousness style which ignores the alues of ommas, periods, and capital letters. In translating his letters, all of which are in German, no effort has been made to clarify what he wrote except when it seemed essential to his meaning, and at times it wrote except when it seemed essential to his meaning, and at times it seemed best to translate his cloudiness in the manner of the original." (Written on page XVII of the Introduction.) The cover and pages are in good shape. The spine has some wear and tear, however, none of the pages have come off of the spine. There are no markings on the pages.

Book
Soft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. "Although the Society prospered and expanded in its material affairs in Indiana in this period, beginning in 1821 there is evidence that George Rapp was already planning the Harmonists' third and final move, the one he believed would usher in history's last age, the Age of the Holy spirit or Okanomie. The new contracts drawn up in January and February,1821 supplementing the 1805 Articles of Association, strengthened the Society's legal position against members who dropped out and may have been designed in anticipation of the crisis of yet another move." (Written on the 1st page of the Preface to volume II.) The cover, pages and spine are in good condition. There are no markings on the pages. In the middle of the book there is a map of Harmony by the Wabash.
