First Edition
Magazine. 4th edition (1st edition thus). Mimeographed (''printed in Washington D.C. USA by the latest photo-mechanical processes'') 50-page magazine, printed on cheap newsprint paper. 4th edition, expanded contents (''This edition contains everything that was in the third edition and in addition much more matter''). Full title: 'The Coming Disaster Worse Than The H-Bomb, Astronomically, Geologically and Scientifically Proven. The Coal Beds, Ice Ages, Tides, and Coming Soon, A Great Wave and Flood Caused By a Shift of the Axis of the Earth from the Gyroscopic Action of Our Solar System'. Lots of gyroscopic ''science'' (''the author is 57 of years of age, an attorney at law, and has experimented with and studied gyroscopic action for over twenty years, devoting thousands of hours to it''), plus biblical Noah's Ark references (''I appeal to everyone reading this, that you at once write to your congressman, senator and the president, to at once appoint a commission to undertake the task of building boats to be moored on land at every corner, so that civilization may be saved from this great disaster, which may strike at any moment now''). On every corner? Wonderful stuff, and includes a section of letters the author has received back from readers of earlier editions (often with cash donations to fund the project of saving the human race, which might explain a lot of what is REALLY going on here), and these letters are just as weird (and sad?). This is the 4th (expanded) edition, each printing of 5000 copies (it states) - so a lot of people bought it/read it (and gave a lot of money?). As much a science fiction ''novel'' as anything by Asimov, Heinlein (or L. Ron Hubbard) from the 1950s. A rare item. Pages browning (cheap newsprint paper), small tear to first page, a VG+ copy.
