Two speeches were given, Snyder on "The beginning of the University" and Coffman on "Founders of the University of Minnesota". Among the Minnesota stalwarts discussed were Alexander Ramsey, william Rainey Marshall, J. W. North, Henry Hastings Sibley, Henry M. Rice, Alfred Elisha Ames, Edward D. Neill and John Sargent Pillsbury. Extremely rare; OCLC shows the only other known copy at the Minnesota Historical Society.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 74 pages : illustrations ; 26 cm. The very rare autobiography of an early resident of Minneapolis. Synder's father opened a bank in Minneapolis in 1855 and led a volunter company in relief of the Dakota siege of Fort Ridgely in 1862. Synder's mother was Mary Ramsey Synder, daughter of Governor Alexander Ramsey. The newlyweds rented the house constructed by John Stevens in what was then St. Anthony, and which still stands on the north side of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Their son Fred married Susan Pillsbury, daughter of Governor Pillsbury. A most interesting and important book in Minneapolis history. This copy in nearly perfect condition.
