Hard Cover/Cloth. Condition: Very Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Light blue cloth; red spine lettering. This book "celebrates a cold country, a place of wonder and beauty, an isolated community of 227 people" in the early 20th century. Cover cloth, except for spine, is irregularly bleach-speckled as though foxed or mildew-stained, but this appears to be the result of defective material rather than poor care. There is no indication of moisture damage, no odor. Spine tips slightly sun-darkened, corresponding to minor chipping at head and tail of spine on dust jacket. Neat gift inscription and date at upper front endpaper. Otherwise clean, tight, and unworn in an intact, moderately-to-heavily edgeworn dust jacket. Now protected in mylar.
