Shaub (1893-1993) was professor of geology at Smith College from 1931-1958. He wrote more than 100 publications on subjects ranging from the crystallization of beryl to the radiometric dating of uraninite to the origin of stylolites, including "The Origin of Agates, Thundereggs, and Other Nodular Structures" (which he wrote at age 96).
