Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 763 illustrations, including 351 plates in full color (illustrator). This is a huge quarto of 10-1/2-X-13-1/2 inches (20.5 X 34.75 cm.) which will ship at about 7-1/2 lbs. (3.3 kg.) Mickey with paint brush is an applique glued to the front board, while the front board TEXT is printed on the clear plastic jacket, only. As is typical of the clear, relatively stiff plastic (mylar?) jackets which were trendy in the 1970s, this one appears to have begun cracking at the corners, in answer to which a previous owner applied swatches of two-inch clear plastic tape to head and heel of spine. We thus grade book "very good" in a "very good," intact clear plastic jacket. 458 pp. including Index. Domestic shipping for this large volume is likely to cost $9 Media Mail; $40 Priority. Reduced from $15.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Hardcover. 4to. Published by The Folio Society Ltd. , London, UK. 2006. 304 pgs. Illustrated in color. Fourth Printing. Issued in paper covered slipcase with color pastedown present to the front board. Slipcase lightly scuffed and worn. Bound in 1/2 green leather and orange silk moire boards with titles present to the spine. Boards lightly rubbed and worn. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid. In Paradise Lost Milton produced poem of epic scale, conjuring up a vast, awe-inspiring cosmos and ranging across huge tracts of space and time, populated by a memorable gallery of grotesques. And yet, in putting a charismatic Satan and naked, innocent Adam and Eve at the centre of this story, he also created an intensely human tragedy on the Fall of Man. Written when Milton was in his fifties - blind, bitterly disappointed by the Restoration and in danger of execution - Paradise Lost's apparent ambivalence towards authority has led to intense debate about whether it manages to 'justify the ways of God to men', or exposes the cruelty of Christianity. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
