Softcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Photographic (illustrator). First Edition. acknowledgements, publisher's note, notes, bibliography and index. Bright pink coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with 2 inserts, of eight pages each, of black-and-white photography from Brett Whiteley's life. Photographic card cover with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. 53 is too young to die, especially for an artistic genius. The authors of this book have pieced together the story of Brett Whiteley's life from newspaper and media accounts, and from a series of in-depth interviews with major figures in Brett's life, from his boyhood friends to his adult influences. It looks like someone has used a candle to heat the front panel in various places, so the dustjacket is quite atrocious. There are also singed marks on the front panel of the binding, which has insect damage on the bottom and top edges of both front and rear panel. Internally clean, refer to the attached images to get an idea of what you're buying Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. TV and radio star, interviewer and all-round media personality, Bert Newton's career spans the decades. He ruled the radio sets of Melbourne in the 1950s - when another young blade, Graham Kennedy, was also on the air - then made the transition to the box. Whether on television, radio or more recently on stage, Bert is the preeminent entertainer. Behind this most public of faces is the story of a boy whose father died early; a lad who loved riding the famous trams of his home town; and a young man whose compulsion to work led him to collapse. A consummate professional who holds the respect and admiration of his peers and multitude of fans alike, Bert has reinvigorated his career over and over as the world around him changed. And in a life full of dynamic partnerships - on screen with Graham Kennedy and Don Lane - Bert's marriage to Patti is the most enduring of them all. Graeme Blundell, journalist and bestselling author of King: The Life and Comedy of Graham Kennedy, delivers an insightful account of Bert Newton's life on and off the screen. Along the way he chronicles the Australian television industry from its earliest years. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
