The ends of the spine strip have softened. The front endpaper has an owner's name that is scribbled over in ink. DJ: Ten chips are up to 1 1/2 in. Fifteen closed tears are 1/8 in. to 1 1/4 in. The words on the spine panel are faded. Three of the folds have spots of color loss from shelf wear rubbing. The top and bottom margins of the back panel have crease lines. May be politically incorrect for our times, but still a charming story lovingly told.
