First edition hard back binding in publisher's original olive green cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine, black block illustration and lettering to the front cover, top edge gilt, lower page edges untrimmed. 4to 10¼'' x 8''. Contains tissue-guarded frontispiece, xiv, 258 pp., 20 colour plates and sixteen illustrations in collotype, appendices, bibliography, index, all with tissue-guards. Some foxing to the edge of the first plate, very minor foxing beyond this, neat fountain name to the top of the second front free end paper and in Very Good clean and sharp condition. This edition on large paper containing the original lithograph, which has been taken off the stone after printing with hand written number 6 of 75 Limited Edition copies for sale in England and the United States. Contains (xiv), 415 printed pages of text, enriched with 37 tipped in colour plates with lettered paper guards, one of which is the original SIGNED lithograph, all mounted at large, also with 36 monochrome illustrations by Brangwyn many taken from photographs. A few minor marks to the covers and in very near Fine condition.
