Condition: Fair. No edition remarks. 290 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth. Contains black and white illustrated plates. Volume V. Pages remain bright and clear with light tanning and foxing. Water staining to bottom edge of pages throughout, text is not affected. Slight cracking to front hinge. Occasional thumb-marking present. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with small splits and fraying to cloth. Minor black marks and faint water staining to surfaces. Mild tanning to spine and edges. Light scuffing to boards and edges. Book has a slight forward lean.

Illustrated by Claude Allin Shepperson, a British artist, illustrator, and printmaker known for his social scenes. Volume one is illustrated with colour frontispiece and five plates with tissue guards. Volume two is illustrated with colour frontispiece and seven plates with tissue guards. Volume three is illustrated with colour frontispiece and five plates with tissue guards. Collated complete. In the original red cloth binding with gilt decoration and edges. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Frontispiece loosening to volume III and could detach with further handling. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good Indeed. book.

Contents bright and fresh, with a little toning to the margins of the plates; the original dark endpapers are intact, the boards firm. All edges gilt, bright. c.22.5x15.5cms, in the original bindings of red cloth over bevelled boards, decorated and titled in gilt. The boards are bright, the spines slightly faded and marked, heads fraying, with short splits to a few joints, bottom edges puckered and scuffed.
