Featuring complete games and interview from 1996 U S Invitational; 1996 U S Junior Invitational; and the 1996 U S Women's Invitational held in the Hilton in Parsippany New Jersey, June through July 1996. Photographs by E Steven Doyle. Introduction by Peter Taburro. Annotations by Roman Dzindzichashvili, David Levin, Steve Pozarek, Peter Radomskyj, Bary Spiro and Herb Hickman. Signed by all the participants of each championship series. First edition. The Invitational Championship was won by Alex Yermolinsky with a 9 points (+6 -1 =6). Second through third was a tie with Boris Gulko and Gregory Kaidanov with 8 points. Dmitry Gurevich held solo fourth with 7 1/2. Just a half point behind was Alexander Ivahov with 7 points. Sixth through eleven was Lev Alburt, Joel Benjamin, Larry Christiansen, Nick de Firmian, Roman Dzindzichashvilli and Alex Shabalov each with a score of 6 points. Tal Shaked scored a clear 5 1/2 for twelfth place and tied for thirteenth and fourteenth was Igor Ivanov and Igro Khemlnitsky with 5 points. The prize fund was $66,000 and $10,000 for first prize which Yermolinsky said he would be proud to tell someone about. The U S Women's Championship was a clear win for Anjelina Belakovskaya with a score of 7 of 9 drawing four and not losing a game. Anna Gulko, a point behind, held second. Irina Levitina was third with 5 1/2 points. Tied for fourth and fifth was Anna Khan and Natalia Tsodikova with 5 points each. Sixth was Yullya Levitan with a score of 4 1/2 points. A tie for seventh and eight with Esther Epstein and Julia Tverskaya each with 4 points. Tatyana Zitseman scored 3 points for ninth and Sharon Burtman with two draws was tenth. There was a prize fund of $24,000 for the women's tournament. The U S Junior Championship started on June 22. Jorge Zamora Jr and Boris Kreiman shared first through second with 7 1/2 each. In third place was Eugene Perelshteyne with 7 points. Fourth through fifth was Igor Shilperman and Joshua Waitzkin of Search for Bobby Fischer fame with 6 1/2 points. Gabriel Schwartzman captured sole sixth with 5 1/2 points followed by Erez Klein half point behind for seventh. Eight and ninth place was shared by Dean Ippolito and Tal Shared with scores of 4 1/2. David Arnett and Michael Mulyar with 4 points each shared tenth and eleventh. Last was Josh Manion with two wins and three draws one of which was against one of the top finishers. All of the players in the tournaments signed this special program. Condition: Some light edge wear else a better than very good copy. Signed by Author(s).
