Book
Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Adopted by the German Wehrmacht at the end of 1939, more than 1.2 million P.38s were manufactured up to 1945. Designed by the Walther company from its civilian model PP, it was the first double-action military pistol. Its robustness and simplicity of manufacture made it a worthy successor to the legendary P.08 Luger in the Second World War. This illustrated book presents the design, manufacturing, and development of the various models, from initial acceptance by the German military in 1938 through their production and use from 1939 to 1945. Details include close-up views of markings and other details, as well as a visual breakdown of the weapon. Accessories such as magazines, ammunition, holsters, and cleaning kits are featured throughout the book, as are rarely seen combat-related uniform and equipment items. AUTHOR: Stephane Cailleau is an author and editor for Regi-arm, in Paris, France. 275 colour and b/w photographs Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Book First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 431 pages. Large volume. 9.25" x 12". SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Text is in Frenh, however all of the holsters and illustrations have full English tranlations. The Book also comes with a USB Drive that has a full English translation of all of the French text. The prior owner of this copy printed out the English translation from the USB Dribe onto 8.5" x 11" copy paper, so that also comes with the book. Hundreds of large, detailed sharp color photographs of all of the holsters with close-ups of the markings. There are also a number of original period black & white photographs. The author has assembled 225 German Military Holster variations from World War II showing the maker, differences, and providing the reader with a detailed description of each holster to identify those models as well as testing them for fakery. The many black & white photographs document the use of these holsters on the battlefield. Many of these photographs were previously unpublished. The holsters include those for Luger, P.38, Walther PP/PPK, Mauser 34 & HSc, Sauer & Sohn 30 & 38, Steyr, .25 Caliber, C96, Beretta 34 & 35, Astra & Star Mod B, P37(u), FN Browning 35 & 22, MAB Mod. D, SACM 35, Bergmann Bayard, Kongsberg Colt, CZ 24, 27 & 38, Radom, etc. More information on German Military World War II holsters is found here than in any other reference book. A truly outstanding reference. Prior owner's name and year on the front end paper. There are two very short splits at the bottom back of the spine, probably from the book being pulled off of the shelf by the spine, however the binding is completely solid with no problems. There is also light corner wear (no bumps) and a few light scratches. The inside is clean and bright. Overall a Very Good solid copy of an important refernce at a reasonable price. Signed by Author.
