Chi ha conosciuto Remo Gaibazzi ricorda i suoi percorsi urbani abitudinari, come un voler tracciare linee su una mappa mentale: monumenti, tetti e finestre che nella sua visione si convertono in forme pop, sempre più decontestualizzate, moltiplicate, serializzate. Dalla ripetizione modulare della sigla pop nasce uno spartito, una progressione ritmica che assume valore sintattico, il preludio - passando dal "grado zero della pittura" - all'ultimo periodo della sua produzione: la reiterazione scritta della parola "lavoro". Quest'ultima fase della ricerca impone di vedere le opere con sguardo duplice: il pattern del campo e il particolare del segno. A un primo sguardo complessivo dell'opera, in cui cogliamo il movimento della texture, si aggiunge un'osservazione più minuta da cui emerge il significato. Pittura e scrittura come due momenti non separati, dunque. Se da una parte la ricerca formale nasce da un'ambiguità percettiva gi. presente nel periodo immediatamente antecedente a quello della scrittura, con continue oscillazioni tra elementi opposti laddove l'attenzione dell'artista si sposta dalla forma alla superficie, dall'altra parte la teoria marxiana del valore-lavoro si fa più esplicita nel rapporto tra produzione e tempo analogamente ai meccanismi retributivi: già in passato Gaibazzi calcolava il valore economico dell'opera in base al tempo impiegato alla sua realizzazione. Difficile collocare quest'ultimo periodo all'interno di una corrente: affine per certi versi.

Nel movimento dell'arte povera si distingue per la qualità poetica e letteraria dei propri lavori con azioni al limite della performance (Canto sospeso, 1973). È presente alla Biennale di Venezia degli anni 1978, 1980 e 1990. Nel 1992 partecipa a Documenta IX a Kassel.
