With the printed bookplate of John Savage of Philadelphia, and the signature of Adelaide H. Hughes (date 1830) on the ffep and on the title page. This couple was married in December of 1830. John Savage II was the son of a wealthy Philadelphia merchant & insurer who died in 1834, leaving to a fortune to his namesake; Adelaide was born into a prominent Baltimore family, she signs "Adelaide H. Savage" in pencil on the rear end papers.
