Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Her plan? Ferry a client's plane to Aruba, play a little poker, get some sun.Not in her plan? An emergency landing on a volcanic island full of lunatics, an approaching hurricane, a dashingly annoying airstrip owner named Buck Shanahan (who seems as fond of poker as she is) and a lonely, lovesick crocodile called Buster.Sassy redheaded pilot, Hannah Lamont has no time for back-island bumpkins like Buck and his friends - until the hurricane bears down, grounding her on tiny Treasure Island. Treasure, ha! Aside from a couple of ratty tiki huts, all this place can boast is a casino - and it's right in the path of the storm. But as Hannah throws her chips in with Buck and the islanders to save the place, the stakes may be higher than she dreamed.and winning brings rewards she never expected. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Brochure is very clean and intact except for light age toning, a few wrinkles and creases, a couple of small splits where folds intersect, and a former owner's annotations in black ink. The annotations mostly comment upon local Tacoma scenery and features. A Very Good copy. A promotional brochure featuring the city of Tacoma, Washington. The booklet encourages travel to and settlement in Tacoma and extols the city's attributes and economic opportunities in the region. Brief descriptions promote different aspects of Tacoma such as its location at the confluence of various rail and steamship lines; its successful industries such as those specializing in lumber, flour, car and locomotive construction, meatpacking, metalsmithing, brewing, furniture, shoewear, biscuits, and candy; its public schools and colleges; its scenic beauty and points of interest; its climate; and its residences and public buildings. The map shows Tacoma city streets and points of interest with special emphasis on "principal buildings." Red accents highlight these buildings as well as other points of interest and a few of the rail lines traversing the city. Circular radiuses show the distance in miles from the Federal Building. "Compiled by Leonard J. Brown from data furnished by L. A. Nicholson, Civil Engineer.".

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. A Fine tight copy in a Fine dust jacket. To most , Robert E. Lee is a beloved tragic figure of a bygone war, remembered by history as stoic and brave but without a true emotional life. Recently, however, historian Elizabeth Brown Pryor uncovered important documents that provide a stunning personal account of Lee's military ability, his beliefs, and his time. Using dozens of previously unpublished letters as departure points, Pryor sheds new light on every aspect of this complex and contradictory general and questions our own understanding of loyalty and patriotism. This tantalizing glimpse of a legendary hero's guarded soul will appeal not only to Civil War buffs, but anyone interested in this nation's history.
