Now quite a scarce book.

Octavo. 79pp. Ownership signature of minister and Civil Rights activist George Houser and his wife Jean on the title page (in Jean Houser's hand; see below), with occasional pencil underlining throughout. Wrappers lightly toned with the a couple of tiny stains, crown bumped, very good. George Houser, who is white, was a Union Theological Seminary graduate, cofounder of the Congress of Racial Equality and founder both of the American committee on Africa and the African fund. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a member of ACOA's national committee and corresponded regularly with Houser. Houser dedicated his life to Civil Rights both in America and in Africa. An excellent association. The editor, John Henrik Clarke, is known as a pioneer in the creation of Africana studies in academia, beginning in the late 1960s.
