Contains XIII The Adventure of Silver Blaze. Also includes A Day with Dr.Conan Doyle by Harry How, Vision of the Night by Richard Marsh and I-VI of Zig-Zags at the Zoo by Arthur Morrison. The boards have light rubbing to the corners with a small surface scrape at the bottom left corner of the front panel. Brownng to the endpapers. Some scattered light spotting to a number of the pages through the book. First printing. Heavy item so there will be an additional postage charge for overseas orders.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Sidney Paget, H.R. Millar, Paul Hardy, A. Pearse, J.A. Shepherd, Max Beerbohm, Gordon Browne et al (illustrator). 1st Edition. The first five volumes of The Strand to June 1893. These include The Sherlock Holmes stories and other pieces by Conan Doyle as well as some of E.W. Hornung's Australian stories. Each around 660 pp with numerous bw illustrations. The volumes are in similar half black calf bindings with raised bands and gilt ornaments, gilt titles to red spine labels, textured cloth sides are burngundy to vols 1, 2, and 3 and blue to 4 and 5 , all edges marbled. Volumes show various degrees of wear, volume 4 stands out as the best of the 5 with scuffed corners, rubbed edges, spotted endpapers, volumes 1 and 5 similar but with sunned and marked cloth and wear to spine edges, one gathering in Vol 1 a little loose and proud of fore edge, vols 2 and 3 have slightly powdery leather with some loss of colour, some small holes to cloth, corners scuffed. Pages to all clean and firmly held - solid set . Over 8Kg packed weight will need extra postage.
