In addition, there are pieces, fiction and non-, by several people not ordinarily associated with he music. Among these stalwarts are: James Jones, John Crosby. Shelby Foote, Robert Sylvester, Richard 0. Boyer, and Murray Kempton. And everyone in the book is harrassed by the pungent comments of the editors -- comments which demonstrate why the New York Times Magazine recently called Mr. Condon the La Rochefoucauld of jazz. The pieces these men have written cover the whole jazz waterfront from Mr. Condon himself to Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, and Bird Parker, from the Commodore Shop to the one night stand. from Turk Murphy to the Sales Conventions run by bandleaders Ellington, Goodman, Kenton. Hampton and the battling Dorseys. There is also a whole section on SOME friends of Eddie's, friends like Bix Biederbecke, Fats Waller, Wild Bill Davison, Lee Wiley, Charles (Pee Wee) Russell and all the others." >> EX-LIBRARY Copy with Usual Markings; (Still in Decent Condition); Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
