Referencias: Sabin 16951; Palau 63191; Church 55; European Americana 524/6; Rafael Heliondo 9 Extraordinary copy of the first edition in Italian which contains Cortes's second and third letters to Charles V describing his conquests in Mexico from 1519 to 1521. The first edition was originally published in Spanish in 1522, followed by a Latin translation by Savorgnanus published in Nuremberg in 1524, the same year as the present Italian version, which is translated from Latin. The folding map which lacks in most copies is present here in excellent facsimile. With the last leaf containing the printers device present here, which also lacks in most copies. Nineteenth century brown morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. A very attractive copy.
