This is a work of fiction that stars the author's lost self in a Venezuelan forest on an adventure which may be incredible to experience but which is familiar to reverie and then told as if it were history. The larger story hidden in the book is that Hudson is love with the whole of nature and calling up the days when his love had been fresh and strong and when he was not yet weary of men.
