Book First Edition
Wrappers. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. This book presents the literary communities response to the Jacob Javits driven protest to the awarding of the Bollingen Prize in 1948. The protest against Pound's selection appeared in the Saturday Review of Literature. This is the first printing ( stated ) published by the Modern Poetry Association in 1949. Bound in publisher's stiff red wrappers, lettered in white. The booklet presents counter argument from William Meredith, Cleanth Brooks, Malcolm Cowley, Archibald MacLeish and others. A very good copy with a bit of rubbing to the spine. This debate was of no minor significance at the time of this books publication.
