This catalogue illustrates how European, particularly Portuguese, culture and art influenced the world from the 15th century onwards. The introduction presents an historical account of the Portuguese presence in Asia.It includes a brief discussion on the complex commercial network that existed in the region, as well as in Africa, before the arrival of the Portuguese.
