Profusely illustrated with more than a thousand engravings of the Roman archaeological excavations started in 1738. This copy is complete with 19 priapic plates (which are often missing at the end of volume VII). Each figure is accompanied by a commentary by Pierre Sylvain Marechal. Gilt stamp of F.W. Paine on spines. Refs: Brunet, II, 536. Cataloger's Note: Two additional volumes were later printed in 1798 & 1803.
