From the time they purchased their first American antique in 1920 it was their intention to collect for a Texas museum to make available to the citizens of the State the rich colonial heritage of the nation, a heritage not native geographically to that area. The author became curator of the collection in 1965, and spent nine years in preparing the collection in published form.
