The first edition of this uncommon study on pheasants of the world.Written by Jean Delacour, an American ornithologist and aviculturist. He discovered and reared some of the rarest birds in the world. He discovered the imperial pheasant, which was a hybrid between the Vietnamese pheasant and the silver pheasant.Illustrated throughout with thirty-two plates by J C Harrison as well as twenty-one maps and diagrams.This copy once belonged to James Robertson-Justice the British actor who starred in many films with Gregory Peck. To the recto of front endpaper are many gift inscriptions to Robertson-Justice including one from the actor Dirk Bogarde. Loosely inserted is a Windsor Great Park Game Card from a shoot with H.R.H Duke of Edinburgh. His name is the first on the record. In the publisher's original cloth binding.
