With a 12-page introductory essay about Meryon, followed by the index. The etchings are divided into sections: Early Etchings (1849-1850), Nos. 1-16; View of Paris, Nos. 17-64; Various Views, Nos. 54-74; Portraits, Nos. 74A-86; and Frontispieces, Addresses, Rebuses, and Various Objects, Nos. 87-102. The final section consists of 3 plates wrongly attributed to Meryon. Each section includes the corresponding bw reproductions of the original engravings.Does NOT include the Amand Durand Apse of Notre Dame Heliogravure 1884. VG+ interior, clean, bright, and tight; corners of covers lightly bumped, as are head/tail of spine.

A collection of etchings by the pioneering French etcher Charles Meryon, profusely illustrated throughout, written by Loys Delteil and translated and edited by Harold Wright. This work is a catalogue of etchings by the French artist Charles Meryon. Meryon was a French artist who is known for being a pioneer and one of the most significant etcher on the nineteenth century. He worked in etching as he was colour blind. His masterpiece is generally considered to be 'Abside de Notre Dame'. Illustrated profusely throughout. Written by Loys Delteil. Delteil was a French engraver as well as being an art historian. Translated, edited and with additions by Harold J. L. Wright. With a booklet of addenda and errata loosely inserted. With a newspaper clipping from the Daily Telegraph on the 23rd December 1921 loosely inserted, being an article about Charles Meryon. In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine. book.
