The environment is one ofthe most important issues for the development and promotion of a tourist destination, and alsothe most fragile (Franco and Garcia, 1999).Due to the huge influx of tourists known as 'mass tourism', the impacts of the developmentcan be positive and negative. Positive economic impacts are the improvement of infrastructureand the attraction of more investment in the area; negative the increase of prices and ofincome inequality. Positive socio-cultural impacts enhance the increase of cultural exchangeand restoration of buildings; negative socio-cultural like immigration and assumption of thestereotypes of tourist; and finally, negative environmental impacts like noise, pollution,destruction of the natural environment, huge buildings in natural areas, overuse of water,problems with the treatment of wastes, water pollution by liquid waste, destruction ofhistorical monuments, air pollution from the use of vehicles and heating, changes in thelandscape to promote activities entertainment and sports such as golf; etc. But not only masstourism affects on the environment, alternative tourism can also make an unsustainable use ofresources (Garcia and Sancho, 1999).This essay will examine critically the natural impacts that the development of tourism hasupon the destination Lanzarote. Una vez realizado el análisis de mercado y competencia, se exponen las herramientas del marketing-mix, como las estrategias de precios, los canales de distribución a utilizar y los instrumentos de promoción, como Internet, para un destino turístico rural dirigido a una clientela familiar. It is a kind of tourism where the accommodation, gastronomical offer, leisure activities and prices are customized for families with children. The family tourism can generate wealth and contribute to an important social development in concrete areas. Due to the low offer of adapted rural accommodations for families, there exists a huge potential in this subsector of rural tourism. This current work analyses the characteristics of rural tourism in Galicia and with special focus on the offers adapted for families. A commercialization plan is carried out for a rural tourism accommodation specialized in families with children in the town Viveiro. After conducting a market and competitors analysis, the tools of marketing mix are defined, as strategies for pricing, distribution channels and promotional instruments, like Internet, for a rural tourism destiny focused on families. The literature review shows that the main customers are young men, who use these applications especially to plan their travel during the information phase. But smartphone applications can not only support tourists' information processingactivities such as connection and navigation in the tourism consumption stage, but also the activities in the pre-consumption and post-consumption stages.A survey in Madrid (Spain) and Nuremberg (Germany) was conducted for this dissertation showing the main differences and similarities in using smartphone applications for tourism activities. The usage of smartphones in Germany is still more frequent than in Spain and themain used device is the iPhone from Apple. Furthermore, German as well as Spanish travellers focus their usage mainly on the information stage than on the booking process, as the majority of mobile applications are purely informative such as maps or tourist travel guides. The usage is also still challenged by expensive roaming charges and poor Internet connectivity.For a successful usage tourism companies should therefore focus on aspects like secure and efficient mobile services who give tourists feel like accompanied with a reliable and personaltravel guide during their whole trip.
