Jean-Charles Desessartz ou des Essartz (1729-1811) était médecin, docteur régent de la faculté de Paris et membre de l'Institut.

Jean [de] Mazille (ca.1517-1578 ou 1580), médecin ordinaire de François II et Henri III, premier médecin du roi Charles IX, natif de Beauvais, docteur en médecine de la faculté de Montpellier, médecin d'Odet de Coligny (1517-1571), de François d'Alençon, de Catherine de Médicis, signataire de l'autopsie de Charles IX. Catherine de Médicis voulut le faire pendre car il ne se fit pas aider pour soigner Charles IX. P.S., 22 avril 1574, 1p in-4 oblong. Sur parchemin. Reçu pour le paiement de deux sommes du trésorier du roi et du duc d'Alençon, Mathieu Marcel, pour 1000 livres tournois (pour ses gages) et 400 données par le duc d'Alençon (par lettres patentes). Mazille sera un des médecins qui signera l'autopsie de Charles IX, mort un mois plus tard. Le docteur Le Paulmier, dans son Ambroise Paré (Paris, Perrin, 1887), le donne mort en 1578 mais on trouve aussi la date de 1580. [329-2].

Hierosme ou Jérôme de Varade ou Varades (?-ap.1575), libraire juré en 1522, docteur en 1530, conseiller et médecin ordinaire du roi, premier médecin de Madame [Catherine de Médicis], notaire et secrétaire du roi, médecin des rois François 1er, Henri II, François II et Charles IX, médecin de Marie-Elisabeth de France (fille unique de Charles IX), médecin de l'Hôtel Dieu, doyen de la faculté de médecine, chirurgien. Il était encore sur l'état de la maison d'Henri III en 1584, élu échevin de Paris en 1568. Il est aussi le fils de Jean-Pierre de Varade, libraire dont le successeur est Michel de Vascosan, élevé par Jacques de Varade (frère de Jérôme) qui sera aussi libraire juré en 1528. P.S., 1er juillet 1575, 1p in-4 oblong. Sur parchemin. Quittance pour le paiement de la rente de ses neveux dont il est tuteur. Celle-ci fut payée par François de Vigny, receveur des finances de la ville de Paris, l'ancêtre d'Alfred de Vigny qui fut anobli. [331-2].

P.S. « Chapellain », 4 avril 1567, in-4 oblong. Sur parchemin. Reçu pour le paiement de ses gages. Au dos, note probablement autographe : « pour servir de Reçu? » (5 lignes). Notons que Chapelain met ici 2 l à son nom quand le secrétaire a mis lui 2 p. Le docteur Le Paulmier, dans son Ambroise Paré (Paris, Perrin, 1887), le donne mort en 1543 par erreur puisqu'il le signale en même temps comme actif à la mort de François 1er en 1547? [279-2].

Jean Delorme (1547?-1637), médecin, docteur de l'université de Montpellier en 1577, médecin du duc de Lorraine Charles III, conseiller et médecin ordinaire du roi Henri IV, médecin ordinaire puis premier médecin du roi Louis XIII, premier médecin de Louise de Lorraine (épouse d'Henri III), premier médecin de la régente Marie de Médicis, père de Charles Delorme, l'important premier médecin de Louis XIII. Il aurait été aussi brièvement premier médecin d'Henri IV. P.S. avec note autographe, [1615], 1p in-4 oblong. Sur parchemin. Document avec le recto signé « Delorme » et une note autographe « Po[u]r la somme de iiiiC L l[ivres] t[ournois] ». Au dos une note d'une autre main « pour servir de quittance? » (4 lignes). Le document n'a pas été rempli ensuite au dessus de la signature mais devait concerner les 450 livres d'appointements en tant que conseiller et médecin ordinaire pour l'année 1615. [280-2].

Honoré ou Honorat de Castellan, en réalité Duchastel dit Castellanus dit Castellan (1511-1569), docteur en médecine en 1544 à Montpellier, conseiller et médecin ordinaire des rois Henri II, François II et Charles IX (peut-être aussi premier médecin de ces trois rois), premier médecin de la reine Catherine de Médicis, oncle des médecins André et Richard du Laurens et beau-frère du médecin Louis Laurens (1511-1574) qui avait épousé sa soeur, mort de maladie au siège de Saint Jean d'Angély comme son ami Jean Chapelain. Il était natif de Barbentane (Bouches-du-Rhône). P.S., 15 janvier 1557, 1p in-8 oblong. Sur parchemin. Quittance pour le paiement de sa rente. Celle-ci fut payée par François de Vigny, receveur des finances de la ville de Paris, l'ancêtre d'Alfred de Vigny qui fut anobli. On trouve aussi sa trace comme premier médecin des trois rois, notamment dans l'Histoire administrative de Beaucaire publiée par Alexandre Eyssette. Il semble que ce soit l'origine de cette information sur laquelle nous avons quelque doute. [279-2].
