For many years, a pair of Doris Humphrey solo dances languished, preserved on a an amateur silent film, from a private performance. Ernestine Stodelle (1925-2008), who danced in the Humphrey and Limon Companies, analyzed the dances and located the music Doris Humphrey had used: two piano pieces by Dane Rudhyar (1895-1985), who had been a close collaborator with Ms. Humphrey in the late 1920s. Here is Ms. Stodelle's reconstruction, its excellent performance by Nina Watt preceded on the tape by Ms. Stodelle's discussion of the works and her coaching/rehearsing with Ms. Watt. VHS-NTSC; 63 minutes, color. Produced by videographer Amy Reusch in collaboration with The Doris Humphrey Society. CONDITION: Both the VHS tape (which plays perfectly) and plastic shell-case are in superb condition, though there is a tiny missing corner on the outer storage case. This outstanding item is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag.
