Volume bound in plain brown wraps, 1897 written at head of spine; most likely done in order to protect the original blue printed wraps which are notoriously fragile. Closed tears to brown wraps at head and foot of spine. Bottom corner of top blue wrap chipped; paper loss to bottom corner of rear blue wrap. Both the single page map plate and large folding map present; closed tears at folds of folding map, folds tender. Internally clean. (Being Appendix to Report of the Minister of Agriculture).

Evidence of light moisture damage to boards, a couple spots of puckered cloth, stain to rear cover. Leather rubbed at extremities. Raised bands on spine, ruled in gilt at top and bottom of compartments; lettering in gilt. Edges speckled red. Starting at gutters; boards secure. Each title lacking original blue wraps (presumably removed for re-bind). Leaf 153 / 54 disbound from 1872, laid in. Leaf 79 / 80 of 1874 wrinkled. Occasional closed tear at margins. Otherwise internally bright and clean. An exceedingly important collection of reports which detail the beginning of Library and Archives Canada under Douglas Brymner. In addition to information pertaining to the archives, each title includes sub-reports with a wealth of information on immigration, prospects for immigrants, and overseas response to the "call for immigrants".
