Braunstein was an author, translator, educator and one of the leaders of the Zionist movement in Romania. Vladimir Leonidovich Dorov was a founder of a famous circus dynasty. From an early age he loved animals and was interested in animal training. His parents were of noble descent and so intended for their son to be a military man or diplomat. But they died early so he grew up in a foster family. His guardian sent him to a military gymnasium. When he rebelled, he was placed in a boarding house. But his passion was the circus, so he ran away from the boarding school to a circus, where he practiced acrobatics and juggling. Eventually he went into teaching, but after retirement he joined the Hugo Winkler circus, concentrating on animal training. His talents brought him fame, he joined another circus. Among his feats was training two pelicans to dance to the waltz tune and flip through the pages of the book. He also gained popularity both as a clown and as a coach touring Russia with the Snow Circus. In 1912 he bought a house in Moscow, continued his study of animal behavior and training, based not on punishment, but on reward, namely, feeding. His house was a full-fledged laboratory for the study of reflexes of various animals and it attracted famous scientists such as Vladimir Bakterev, Alexander Leontovich, professor Grigory Kozhnikov, professor Alexander Chizevsky. He later published "Animal Training". Parallel with the studies, he put on very popular shows at the "Dorov corner." After the 1917 revolution, all of Dorov's property was nationalized, but he was allowed to stay at home and continue his scientific and circus activities, which made him a household name.
