The covers are slightly rubbed, bumped & soiled with a tiny hole to the front joint. lv, [1] & 588 pages, illustrated with 61 plates and a large color folding map in a pocket on the rear cover. The plates consist of the following: 7 color charts ("Scheme of Colors adopted for the Charts of the U.S. Geological Survey), 33 black & white plates including 14 that are folding, 7 color maps including 4 that are double-page and 14 charts, 6 of which have color. There is a small tear to the paper along the front hinge and a previous owner's name is penciled on the front endpaper. An unusually clean complete copy. Very good. First edition. Among the various reports are a "Tertiary History of the Grand Canyon District" by Capt. C.E. Dutton, "The History of Lake Bonneville" by G.K.
