On offer is a very interesting original December 1915 Canadian Expeditionary Force handwritten letter/document being a word for word transcription of a short conversation between a Private of the Northumberland Fusiliers at the front of St. Eloi. "December 1915. Trenches, Bois Quarante - P.O. Line. Gemran Front Line. Battalion left flank connected with Northumberland Fusiliers in front of St. Eloi. The following conversation transpired between a Private of the Northumberlands and the enemy as follows: German: any of you fellows from Glaston London England? Northumberlander: Yes. German: I had a barbers shop up there and left a wife and four children there. Northhumberlander: Yes, well Jerry just put your head above the parapet and you will sure have a widow and six orphans ----- bang. This is the actual conversation as heard by."
