Auflage. 10,5 x 16,5 cm (softcover) 64 pages (21 color & 7 b/w ill.) - This book focuses on John Armleder's early Fluxus-related works with Ecart, a group he founded in 1969 with Patrick Lucchini and Claude Rychner. Between 1972 and 1980, Ecart established itself as both bookshop and gallery in Geneva and exhibited, among others, Giuseppe Chiari, Braco Dimitrijevic, Dick Higgins, Manon, Annette Messager, Ben, Olivier Mosset, Daniel Spoerri. At the same time, Ecart published books and editions by Robert Filliou, Peter Downsbrough, Sarkis, Genesis P-Orridge, Endre Tót, Dan Graham, Maurizio Nannucci, and Lawrence Weiner. Ecart's rich and multifaceted production, which also included festivals of performance, made it into one of the most important groups and alternative spaces of its time in Europe.

Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Majoritarian State traces the ascendance of Hindu nationalism in contemporary India. Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP administration has established an ethno-religious and populist style of rule since 2014. Its agenda is also pursued beyond the formal branches of government, as the new dispensation portrays conventional social hierarchies as intrinsic to Indian culture while condoning communal and caste- and gender-based violence. The contributors explore how Hindutva ideology has permeated the state apparatus and formal institutions, and how Hindutva activists exert control over civil society via vigilante groups, cultural policing and violence. Groups and regions portrayed as enemies of the Indian state are the losers in a new order promoting the interests of the urban middle class and business elites. As this majoritarian ideology pervades the media and public discourse, it also affects the judiciary, universities and cultural institutions, increasingly captured by Hindu nationalists. Dissent and difference are silenced and debate increasingly sidelined as the press is muzzled or intimidated in the courts. Internationally, the BJP government has emphasised hard power and a fast expanding security state. This collection of essays offers rich empirical analysis and documentation to investigate the causes and consequences of the illiberal turn taken by the worlds largest democracy. (jacket).

Softcover. Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. 15 x 21 cm 160 pages (14 b/w illustrations) - This anthology addresses this plurality by including texts by film theorists such as Raymond Bellour and Annika Wik, alongside contributions by internationally established art critics and curators such as Saul Anton, Stéphanie Moisdon and Jean-Christophe Royoux. In addition, Black Box Illuminated examines the ways in which the Nordic art scene has been a productive place during the past decade for artists working with moving images. The publication includes interviews with Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Eva Koch, and Liisa Roberts, three artists whose work has been formative for the understanding of narrative in relation to the viewer, space, and the moving image.

Hardcover. Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. 266 Seiten/Pages, 24x30 cm - The important German collector Thomas Olbricht presents a personal selection of his most recent acquisitions, including Maurizio Cattelan, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Larry Clark, Thomas Demand, Marlene Dumas, Carroll Dunham, Marcel Dzama, Isaac Julien, Richard Phillips, Alexis Rockman, Gregor Schneider, Taryn Simon, Hiroshi Sugito, Nicola Tyson and Barry X-Ball. As Olbricht writes in the epilogue, 'Collecting art, for me, is an elixir of life÷ Seemingly anything goes and nothing is sure. This productive restlessness makes collecting a great adventure--that's one thing this picture book is meant to tell; another thing is that, for me, the variety of positions I'm continuously concerning myself with combines to become a cosmos full of life.' Contains an illustrated appendix and an introduction by Jean-Christophe Ammann.
